that Rex Ingram built a studio in France I would've visited when I was there and I bet he fuckin' resented bein' lampooned in "Tender Is The Night" and I bet he could hold his liquor way better than Fitzgerald and I bet he got more pussy than he did too.
And I bet he passed on adapting "The Beautiful and Damned" for the screen which probably got Fitzgerald's nose outta joint.

Whatever. Ingram was an uncompromising giant of the silent era and even did okay in the talkies. I have zero use for critical appraisals that are less than kind. Those academics are pricks.
